Swatlands Restaurant is one of the finest, award-winning Indian restaurants in Leicestershire.
The restaurant was opened in 2001. The building is approximately
400 years old and has a lot of history. It has been known that George Davenport
- the infamous highwayman - resided there when the building was trading
as an inn. This was in the late 1600s.
The name "Swatlands" originated
from the previous owner, Michael Swatland, who
had this building as an off-license and wine
shop, for a number of years. This building was
always known as "Swatlands", hence
we kept the name.
The present owner of the restaurant
- Kam Dawda - has been in the trade for approximately
15 years. He created the Spice of India restaurant
in Syston and built up a fantastic reputation
there. Now, based at Oadby, Swatlands has recently
been awarded with the "Best Restaurant in
Leicestershire"
accolade.
Kam has created a stunning
menu at Swatlands to tantalise many people's
taste-buds.
